About France Country:

The history of France is rich and varied. Not much is known about the country’s first inhabitants. The caves in southwestern France are dated to about 15,000 BC. From the 7th century BC, Celts and other tribes began to enter and settle in France. In ancient times the region of France was known as the Celtic Gaul. The ancient Romans occupied France in the 1st century BC and ruled the region until the 5th century AD.

After the fall of Rome, many dynasties ruled France continuously. The influence of the monarchy diminished in the Middle Ages. Then local ruler-based feudalism emerged. By the 14th and 16th centuries, the power of the monarchy gradually increased again. The monarchy collapsed in the French Revolution in 179. For many decades after that, France went a long way through political turmoil. Then, during the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte, France was established as a cohesive administrative state.

In the 19th and early 20th centuries, France’s power and economic prosperity increased. During this time France was able to build an empire that was a rival of the British Empire around the world. But almost the whole of World War I took place on French soil and resulted in extensive damage to the country. After World War II, France rebuilt its economy and emerged as one of the world’s major industrialized nations. In the aftermath of World War II, anti-imperialist movements arose in the French colonies, and France soon lost most of its colonies.
